Historical fiction set in Vienna, before and during the initial rise of Hitler and Hitler in WWII, and told from the views of two women: Adele Bloch-Bauer, a beautiful, brilliant young woman who was the inspiration and model for some of Gustav Klimt’s most famous paintings, and her niece, Maria Altmann, who watches her beloved Vienna torn apart by antisemitism and war. So far it’s richly told, and heartbreaking in the way that historical fiction should be.
